We were recently contacted by the producer for the PBS show Insights, hosted by the well-known business correspondent Hugh Downs. They are doing a series on the booming market of ethnic foods of the latino persuasion in America. There is no better defining food than carne asada that embodies the spirit of the hispanic culture. Carne asada is not just “grilled meat”, it’s an event! It embodies the spirit of family, friends, fun food and festivities. In fact, in the latino community, what others call a “BBQ” is called una carne asada, an event which typically features a festive environment of music family, friends, food, fun and of course a blazing grill layered with delicious, juicy, marinated carne asada. However, this cultural phenomenon extends far beyond the backyards of Hispanics in America. The mere mention of carne asada to many Americans, Hispanic and non-Hispanic alike, incites instant thoughts and memories of good food and lots of fun. We look forward to hearing back from Insights in the hopes that they will profile The Bomb Steak and help spread the word of delicious, authentic, Mexican, carniceria-style carne asada available soon on the shelves of every major grocery store from coast to coast!
